De Stichting AAD is ontstaan uit een initiatief om te komen tot de ontwikkeling en totstandkoming van Kennisbruggen over de hele wereld. Na een langere periode van voorbereiding en vooronderzoek in diverse doellanden voor (ontwikkelings-) samenwerking, heeft de stichting ervoor gekozen om in 2018 de kennisbrug SEH-AZP (Academisch Ziekenhuis Paramaribo) als speerpunt van beleid te benoemen. Vanaf 2018 zullen er zowel medisch specialisten (SEH), als artsen in opleiding (Aio’s) over deze kennisbrug worden uitgezonden.
